Joy of Life Discussion Group
June 19, 2012
Today’s Topic: Finding the Good

Some of the things we discussed today were:
Look for the good in every situation. When you are hit with the bad, do some comparing of the bad and good in what’s going on or what you’re thinking.
A non-reaction or a positive reaction to a hostile person will often bring them around to positive.
Fully absorb the little beauties and pleasures around you. Start your day in a peaceful place.
Let problems and disturbing issues float through your mind, but don’t hold on to them.
We can always find good in a feeling of accomplishment or the reward of creativity. Relish the feeling of what you’ve accomplished in each chore, each day, each year.
Don’t miss the beauty around you. It changes constantly. Look at it now before it moves on.
Carry a beautiful and peaceful memory that’s very specific with you all the time and use it to bring yourself out of a bad mood or negative circumstance.
Bad things are valuable too. Experience them, learn from them, value them and then move on.
Don’t let fear block your joy.
Joy is different than happiness. Happiness is brief and fleeting, joy blankets your whole existence. We might be unhappy over something, but it need not take away our joy.
Accept the bad things- they’re part of the adventure of life. Know that they really don’t matter in the long run except for what we learn from them.
Can you change your thoughts? Yes, with practice. You are not your thoughts. You are the observer looking at them, evaluating them and changing their course.
Things happen for the best in the long run. Sometimes we have to hit the bottom to start coming up, but we can always rise up to the good, to joy.

JOY OF LIFE DISCUSSION GROUP

I'm starting a new discussion group in Savannah Lakes Village to meet twice a month
It's called "The Joy of Life Discussion Group"

We’ll be discussing many different topics related to having a wonderful life and making each day as special as it can be.
We’ll talk about great relationships with those close to us and with all those others we come in contact with every day.
We’ll explore ways to handle the challenges and problems of life, the frustrations, the fears, the sorrows, the losses, the setbacks and more.
We’ll look at ways to keep our lives full of passion, goals, new challenges to keep us young and vibrant, and to use all of our physical, mental, spiritual and intuitive strengths and skills to contribute to the world we live in.
We’ll work out ways to deal with sickness and old age and the approaching end of our lives in as positive a way as possible.
We’ll discuss how we can find something positive and special in each day, every place and every person that is part of our day.
And we’ll explore ways to just feel good all the time, no matter what’s going on in us or around us.
And lots more.

Meetings will be on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 11:00 A.M. beginning on Tuesday, June 19th and discussions hopefully will develop on my blogs.

All are welcome, including anyone in the Village or from outside of SLV. Each person is welcome to contribute to the discussion or not, as your comfort level dictates. There is no cost or obligation.
Please RSVP by email if you’d like to attend.

Being a new group and exploring new areas and ideas, we will be most open to other related ideas and suggestions to expand/improve our material and will be open to anyone who would like to provide a topic or lead any of the discussions. We’re also open to using all available resources to enhance our discussions.

I'll also be putting a lot of the information on my blog at http://happyfred.tumblr.com/ and on http://fredrichter.blogspot.com
from time to time and posting the links on Facebook.
